Ballyronan
Wood
Ballyronan Wood is a small 5 acre wet woodland on the shores of
Lough Neagh. Visiting Ballyronan wood will provide a pleasant walk
to enjoy the Loughs spectacular wildlife and scenery
Banagher Forest (Altbritain)
South of the B40, Altbritain Forest offers good routes for the experienced
walker leading to Mullaghaneany, one of the highest peaks in the
Sperrins that straddles the boundary between counties Londonderry
and Tyrone.
Banagher Glen
Banagher Glen features a magnificent lake and forest, located three
miles from Dungiven. Spectacular views can be enjoyed by the visitor,
whilst hill walking enthusiasts will enjoy a challenging 14km circular
walk through the forest. Designated as a National Nature Reserve
and Special Area of Conservation, Banagher Glen leads to County
Londonderry’s largest commercial forest and contains Altnaheglish
Resevoir, used for the supply of water to the surrounding area.
An ideal location for those interested in investigating flora and
fauna and ornithology. Car parking facilities open 9am - 9pm weekends

Cairndaisy Wood
Located 8 km north of Cookstown on the east side of Slieve Gallion.
Cairndaisy Wood is of both local and national botanical interest.
Cam Forest
Located in the Northern periphery of the Sperrins, Cam Forest is
accessed via Craigmore Road (B66) and offers a range of circular
trails including a section of the Ulster Way.
Davagh
Forest
Situated ten miles north west of Cookstown at the foothills of the
Sperrin Mountains, Davagh has a series of casual trails suitable
for most walkers. There may even be an opportunity to catch a glimpse
of the beautiful sika deer.
Derrynoid Forest
Located just outside Draperstown, this forest houses the Rural College
& Derrynoid centre — an excellent base for walking holidays.
A series of nature trails and walks are available with accompanying

Drum Manor Forest Park
Situated 4 miles west of Cookstown, Drum Manor is of particular
botanical interest with a shrub, butterfly and Japanese garden,
arboretum, ponds and mixed woodlands. Waymarked trails of varying
lengths commence at the car park and form circular routes.
Drumcairne
Forest
Located just 2 miles east of Stewartstown, this wood has interesting
nature trails for the visitor.
Faughan Walk
Learmount Forest covers just over 120 hectares of the foothills
at the Northern face of the Sperrin Mountains. The River Faughan
rises on the highest mountain in the Sperrins — Sawel Mountain
— and then flows 46km to Lough Foyle, entering the forest
under the Footstick bridge at Altinure. Near here you may be able
to see the tracks of an otter in the sand of the river's edge, and
further downstream dippers are common, along with the occasional
heron or grey wagtail — possibly even a kingfisher. Various
supporters have produced 3 A4 leaflets which give more information
covering the forest trails, flowers and trees.
Garvagh
Forest
Located on the western fringe of Garvagh town, and accessed from
its Main Street, Garvagh Forest offers a range of walking trails
suitable for all abilities. The forest is home to a pyramid erected
as a family vault by Lord Garvagh in the 19th Century.
Glenshane
Forest
12 km from Dungiven on the southern side of the Glenshane Pass,
Glenshane Forest hugs the south-east slopes of Corrick & Glenshane
Mountains and includes panoramic views over Lough Neagh, Antrim
Hills, Slemish and on a good day the Mournes.
Goles Forest
Located off the Glenelly Road between Draperstown and Cranagh, Goles
Forest offers car parking and forest trails with scenic views of
the Glenelly Valley.
Gortin Glen Forest Park
Located 6 miles north of Omagh, this park offers three waymarked
trails; the Nature Trail(2km), the Pollan Trail (2km), and the Ladies
View Trail (3.5km). Shorter informal walks are also available in
the park.
Gortnamoyagh Forest
7km north east of Dungiven, Gortnamoyagh Forest is tucked behind
Benbradagh Mountain. To the south is Legavannon Pot, an interesting
geological feature formed by glacial melt water, at the end of the
Ice Age.
Iniscarn Forest
Located off the A29 Moneymore — Draperstown road, Iniscarn
has a range of walks, and is also the starting point for those wishing
to climb the hill walk on Slieve Gallion Mountain.
Killeter
Forest
West of Castlederg, Killeter forest offers a range of tracks meandering
through the low hills of West Tyrone. This area is a wintering site
for white fronted geese. As one of the largest forests in Ireland
it is advisable that you obtain a copy of sheet 12 (Discoverer Series
map) and that you are skilled in map reading before walking in this
extensive forest.
Learmount Wood
Located nine miles south west of Dungiven just outside Park village.
Roads and paths offer over 4km of trails that rise 200km up from
the banks of the River Faughn to the slopes of Meeny Hill. A gentle
circular route for cyclists runs between the Community Centre and
the Castle. Parts may be considered steep, and as routes use working
forest roads, stout footwear is advisable.
Lough Bradan
Located five miles west from Drumquin, this is a great location
to explore the flora and fauna of the area.
Loughermore Forest
This forest has a circular route with a steep climb through Loughermore
Forest to the summit and return via road. There are stunning panoramic
views from the summit.
Moydamlaght
Forest
Located off the B40 just 5 miles north — west of Draperstown,
forest nature trails link with neighbouring hill walking routes.
Pomeroy Forest
Located just outside Pomeroy village, the forest has an extensive
series of nature trails with the opportunity to experience local
wildlife.
Springwell Forest
Located 5 miles South West of Coleraine on the Dunhill Road (A37),
Springwell Forest offers a variety of walking trails suitable for
all abilities.
